Agatha Kang, LSW

Agatha is certified in CBT for Anxiety & OCD and has completed the clinical training program through the Center for Anxiety Training. She received her Masters in Social Work from Jane Addams College of Social Work (UIC) and is a Licensed Social Worker. Agatha has experience in working with kids and youth from nonprofit agencies and community mental health centers where she has participated in providing counseling services and leading social skills groups for kids and teens. She also has worked in inpatient psychiatric hospitals for crisis stabilization for patients with various mental health disorders and run CBT trauma-informed groups. She is also familiar working with adults and youth with severe depression and self-harm from her experience of conducting IOP and PHP group settings. Agatha is passionate about working with kids, adolescents, and young adults who struggle with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma, and racial discrimination.
Agatha uses CBT, DBT,ERP, and ACT in her approaches with clients. Agatha is a firm believer that everyone can build up resilience. She uses a strengths-based perspective with individuals. Agatha believes the client is the expert in their own life and wishes to establish a positive, warm, and genuine therapeutic relationship. She also acknowledges how faith and spirituality can be a positive support for an individual’s life.
