Do you offer out of office treatment for anxiety?
Will the therapist I have my first session with be the therapist I work with on an ongoing basis?
  1. Your first appointment will be a virtual intake session.
  2. At the end of intake session, we will review our recommended treatment plan, and most appropriate next steps. Depending on your clinical and scheduling needs, you will be assigned to a Light On Anxiety therapist or transferred to another practice that specializes in a clinical area more aligned with your treatment needs and goals.
Which therapists are in each location?

To see our most current availability for each location, please use our online appointment calendar, where you can select your preferred location. From there you will see our available appointment times and clinicians.

How long will treatment take?

Each case is different, but strive to make treatment as short term as possible.  CBT is action oriented and the goal is for each client to become his or her own anxiety coach.

Do I need to fill out paperwork before my first session?

Once your appointment is confirmed, you will receive our Intake Packet through your client portal. These forms must be completed prior to your appointment.

How frequently do we have sessions?

The therapist that you meet with will assess your level of need and make a recommendation of how often it is best for you to meet from there. Sessions are typically held on a weekly or biweekly basis.

If I am transferred to a new therapist after my intake session, will I be starting all over again?

The LOA therapist who completes the intake will meet with your assigned LOA therapist to review your clinical history and treatment goals.  That way you will be able to get to work on your CBT for anxiety treatment plan immediately.

How do I cancel an appointment?

There is no charge for a cancellation if it occurs more than 48 hours before the session. To cancel an appointment, login to your client portal or email [email protected] and let us know the date of the session you would like to cancel and you will receive an email back confirming the appointment has been canceled.

Do you offer out of office treatment for anxiety?

Light On Anxiety clinicians offer out of office exposure based services and will work with you to make contact and then practice moving past anxiety, wherever it exists in your life. Sometimes out of office CBT and exposure based work may enhance what can be accomplished in the office setting.  Note: Client will be responsible for travel time for clinician to arrive at exposure location.

Do you offer CBT and ERP?

How is CBT different from traditional talk therapy?

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an empirically supported treatment model that focuses specifically on your thoughts, feelings and behaviors. It is an action-oriented approach that emphasizes skill-building and creating a coping skills toolbox. Throughout the first few sessions, you will learn how to apply CBT concepts in your life.

Does my therapist prescribe medication?

Only medical doctors, such as primary care physicians and psychiatrists, can prescribe psychotropic medication. There are no psychiatrists on staff at Light On Anxiety. However, we have close relationships with psychiatrists and would be happy to provide you with a referral if you would like to pursue medication as an addition to your treatment plan. Light On Anxiety therapists will work closely with your providers to ensure the best collaborative care for you.

Do you offer psychological and neuropsych evaluations?

Light On Anxiety offers brief psychological testing services to provide clients with differential diagnosis assistance, treatment planning assistance, clinical resources and provider recommendations.

Do you offer intensive outpatient treatment?

Yes. Depending on the severity of symptoms, we offer intensive treatment with up to 5 sessions per week. The first step is to set up an intake session with any of the Light On Anxiety therapists. From there, we will create a customized treatment plan to assist you in moving past anxiety.

Child & Adolescent CBT FAQs

Light On Anxiety values a team-based approach where parent(s) play an active role in treatment.

What does child/adolescent treatment look like at LOA? What role do parents/guardians play in treatment?
Do you work with young children?
What does child/adolescent treatment look like at LOA? What role do parents/guardians play in treatment?

Light On Anxiety values a team based approach where parents play an active role in the treatment of children and adolescents.  Therefore, it is required that at least one parent/legal guardian be available to participate in each appointment.  You will either be actively involved in the whole session, part of the session, or taking part in separate parenting sessions, without your child participating, depending on clinical recommendations of your therapist.

No matter what, your participation will be a key component in the creation and implementation of successful CBT treatment plan for your child, so be prepared for hard but important work that will assist your child in moving past stress and anxiety as rapidly as possible.

Do you work with young children?

Light On Anxiety works with children and the families of children as young as one year old. When working with young children, the primary treatment entails working with parents on changing the environment to extinguish ineffective behaviors, enhance more effective coping (stimuli control) and improve distress tolerance.
