Mind Matters Student Fellows is a semester-long student leadership and mental wellness education program for high school partners.
Selected students receive structured education and facilitation training, then translate that learning into peer-led discussion groups within their schools. The program is educational and preventive—not therapy—and is designed to reinforce existing school counseling resources.
The Mind Matters Student Fellows Program is grounded in evidence-based tools and concepts from Light On Anxiety book, Rewire Your Anxious Brain for Teens: Using CBT, Neuroscience, and Mindfulness to Help You End Anxiety, Panic, and Worry.
Throughout the fellowship, students explore practical strategies drawn from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), neuroscience, mindfulness, and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).
The curriculum is designed to help students better understand how the brain responds to stress and anxiety while building leadership, communication, and emotional resilience skills they can apply in everyday life.
Student fellows participate in guided discussions and experiential activities centered around topics such as:
Mind Matters Student Fellows is a selective, pre-professional training opportunity for students who are curious about mental wellness, passionate about leadership, and interested in making a real impact in their school community.
