Shelby Hulka (she/her) is Certified Light On Anxiety Treatment Specialist and National Certified Counselor. Shelby earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from DePaul University and her Bachelor of Science in Psychological Sciences from Purdue University. Shelby is passionate about supporting clients in achieving their personal goals and fostering meaningful growth.
She specializes in helping individuals across the lifespan navigate anxiety, depression, OCD, post-traumatic stress, self-esteem challenges, disordered eating, school anxiety, bullying, life-transitions, phobias, panic, and stress management. Her neurodiversity-affirming approach is informed by extensive clinical experience with ASD, ADHD, and executive functioning differences.
Shelby’s therapeutic style is client-centered and characterized by authenticity, encouragement, patience, and non-judgment. She integrates techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and narrative therapy.
Outside of her clinical work, Shelby enjoys traveling, exploring Chicago, and going for long-distance runs.
