Michelle is a dedicated and compassionate therapist holding a Master of Social Work from Lewis University and a Master of Arts in Writing, Rhetoric and Discourse, with a focus in Women and Gender Studies from DePaul University. Her extensive academic background provides her with a unique lens for understanding the complexities of human experience, particularly during significant life transitions.
Drawing upon her diverse experiences as an advocate, counselor, and youth director. Michelle is passionate about supporting children, adolescents, and young adults as they navigate and adapt to new phases of life. Her therapeutic approach is rooted in a commitment to helping clients cultivate resilience and develop effective coping mechanisms to thrive amidst change. She has cultivated a special interest in supporting children and their families as they navigate the emotional and practical realities of living with chronic and serious illnesses. Michelle offers sensitive and informed support to expectant and new mothers as they adjust to the profound emotional shifts of motherhood as well as the unique grief associated with reproductive loss. Additionally, Michelle currently holds the Illinois certification in domestic violence and sexual assault advocacy.
Michelle embraces an eclectic and client-centered approach to therapy, thoughtfully integrating evidence-based techniques with the transformative power of movement, mindfulness, and meaningful connections. Believing in the intrinsic link between physical, mental, and emotional well-being, she tailors her interventions to meet the unique needs and goals of each individual. Michelle prioritizes working collaboratively with the client to develop treatment plans and goals that meet the client’s needs.
Beyond her clinical practice, Michelle’s passion for communication and education extends to her role as an adjunct professor of writing at local universities and as a domestic violence advocate. In her personal life, she cherishes spending time with her husband, four children, three grandchildren, and three beloved rescue dogs. She enjoys engaging in activities such as theater, live music, hiking, dance, and gardening, all of which enrich her perspective and inform her empathetic approach to therapy.
