Meet Joie Pecoraro, LSW

Joie Pecoraro
Virtual Wilmette

Joie Pecoraro is a Licensed Social Worker and earned her Bachelor of Psychology from Illinois State University, where her love of learning and empathetic nature propelled her into the realm of mental health. With a natural capacity for spiritually attuning to others, Joie received her Master of Social Work and began her career working in the public school system. It is there where she discovered her adoration for working with those who find themselves in processing and transition.

Joie believes that healing occurs through creativity, intention, and a deep-seated desire to understand what lies beneath. With a knack for creating a grounded, healing space, Joie is confident that mental-emotional wellness and physical comfort are accessible to all with persistence and effort. When working with clients, Joie shines a flashlight to areas in need of loving-kindness and care.

Joie utilizes elements of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS)  to help clients un-bind from old patterns and further understand their inner structures. When appropriate and relevant, Joie also enjoys incorporating elements of play, nature, art, movement, and sound in her therapeutic work- in particular, her beloved crystal singing bowls.

Joie posits that the therapeutic process is a sacred one. As such, she allows clients to lead her in determining what makes their therapeutic journey meaningful, no matter their stage of life. Joie believes that the mind is a garden in which clients do the tending, trimming, and harvesting; the therapist just fills the watering can.

Joie Pecararo is an excellent social worker. She communicates well with our son and with us. We, as parents, are very grateful to have Joie working with our son because her communication and services are amazing. She is dedicated, compassionate, committed, and an outstanding social worker.
