Meet Gia Macchione, MSW

River North Virtual

Gia, MSW, holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology and a Master of Social Work from the University of Illinois Chicago. With a focus on mood and anxiety disorders, Gia is passionate about helping individuals become their best selves and truly thrive. Gia has training working with ADHD, Depression, Generalized Anxiety, Phobias and Social Anxiety.ย

Her diverse clinical background includes partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and individual psychological assessment for patients spanning children through adults of all ages. Trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Gia is committed to getting to know each client as a whole person. Using a collaborative, strengths based approach, she develops individualized treatment plans that align with each client’s unique needs and goals.ย

Gia prioritizes creating a warm, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel safe to express themselves and explore lifeโ€™s challenges. Her goal is to equip clients with practical tools and insights that foster self-awareness, symptom management, and lasting personal growth.

Outside of the therapy space, Gia enjoys finding a cozy spot to read, volunteering with the cats at the animal shelter, exploring new places around the city, and taking peaceful walks in nature.ย

I like the connections made and the helpfulness of the suggestions, as well as the accommodability and personalization of sessions.
