Meet Dr. Heather O’Brien, Psy.D.

Naperville Virtual

Dr. Heather O’Brien is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist providing psychological treatment for child, adolescent, adult, couples, and families. Dr. O’Brien received her PsyD from Roosevelt University.

Dr. O’Brien’s clinical focus includes providing individual intervention for those of all ages with OCD, ADHD, Autism,  all types of anxiety disorders, and eating disorders as well couples/family therapy and psychological/ psychoeducational testing. Dr. O’Brien’s treatment approach is eclectic in nature and includes a combination of empirically supported modalities including cognitive behavioral, exposure response therapy and radically open dialectical behavioral therapy.

Dr. O’Brien has completed Level 3 Gottman training in couples/ family work and has completed the Behavioral Therapy Training Institute (BTTI) program in exposure response therapy with the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF). In treatment, the focus is on symptom reduction and the development of new and effective coping strategies. She believes this process is best accomplished through genuine interaction and humor used to help her clients achieve an enhanced understanding of how they are affected by and interact with the environment around them. She believes no two clients are the same and that treatment style and intervention strategies must be tailored to the individual’s needs.

I’m having an amazing, helpful and healing experience.
