Adenike Cotton is a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate who holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Human Development from Howard University. Following the completion of her undergraduate education, Adenike attended Clark Atlanta University, where she received a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
Adenike has experience working with teenagers and adults within individual, group, and family therapeutic settings. Her clinical work spans collegiate counseling and intensive outpatient environments, where she has supported clients navigating trauma, emotional dysregulation, anxiety, depression, and life transitions. She believes that culturally responsive, research-informed care creates the most effective and affirming therapeutic environment. Adenike integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and intersectional trauma-informed approaches to provide clients with a structured yet adaptive framework for understanding and transforming the patterns that no longer serve them.
Because Adenike considers empowerment a cornerstone of the therapeutic process, she emphasizes building clients’ awareness of how the full complexity of their identities, including cultural background, life experiences, relationships, and personal values, shapes their mental health and informs their path to healing. Supporting a collaborative approach, Adenike partners with each client to design a healing journey that is built for them, by them.
Outside of work, Adenike enjoys hosting game nights, working out, and exploring new hobbies.
