“What If Something Is Wrong?” Understanding Health Anxiety

🩺 “What if this headache means something serious?”
🤒 “Why won’t this feeling go away?”

If you struggle with health anxiety, you're not alone — and you're not imagining things. The physical symptoms you’re experiencing are real — but the interpretation of what they mean might be influenced by anxiety.

As Anna Wruck, LPC explains, one helpful approach is to pause and ask:
🔹 What else might be contributing to this feeling?
That headache? It could be from skipping lunch, not enough sleep, or not drinking water.

This gentle reframing doesn’t minimize your experience — it helps you stay grounded instead of spiraling.

But if your days are filled with doctor visits, constant Googling, or fear that something is always wrong, you don’t have to keep doing this alone.

💙 Light On Anxiety offers expert support for managing health anxiety with compassion and clarity. Reach out — we’re here to help.

Breaking Free From Anxiety: Understanding ERP Therapy

At Light On Anxiety, we believe that facing your fears-gently and intentionally-is a powerful path to healing.

Therapist Laura Fouad, LSW shares how we implement Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy to help clients break free from anxiety and OCD.

ERP is an evidence-based treatment that involves gradually confronting feared thoughts or situations while resisting the urge to engage in compulsive behaviors. This process retrains the brain to recognize that the feared stimulus isn't actually dangerous.

At Light On Anxiety, ERP may include:
-Imaginal exposures: Vividly imagining feared scenarios to reduce their emotional impact.
-In vivo exposures: Facing feared situations in real life to build tolerance and reduce avoidance.

By combining these approaches, clients learn to sit with discomfort and diminish anxiety's grip.

ERP is a core treatment we offer at Light On Anxiety, and one of the many ways we help our clients live with greater freedom and confidence.

Ready to take the first step toward reclaiming your life? Our compassionate team is here to support you.

Let's Talk About How Psychiatric Medication Really Works

As Nicole Adamowicz, PMHNP-BC, explains - medication isn't a magic fix, but it can make a meaningful difference.

When you're dealing with anxiety, OCD, depression, or other mental health challenges, symptoms can sometimes feel so overwhelming that daily life (and even therapy!) becomes hard to manage. That's where medication can help.

Medication can:
-Reduce symptom intensity
-Make daily functioning easier
-Create space to benefit more from therapy

It's not about changing who you are - it's about giving your brain the support it needs so you can show up for yourself

Curious if medication might be a helpful next step? Reach out to connect with our team.
