River North Virtual

Niyati Kapadia received her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northeastern Illinois University and holds a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Indira Gandhi National Open University. She has also completed Primary and Advanced Practicum training in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy through the Albert Ellis Institute in New York.

Niyati brings seven years of clinical experience working with clients across the United States and India. She supports adults experiencing anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder and related concerns, depression, panic, perfectionism, life transitions, relationship stress, and difficulties with self-esteem and emotional regulation. She is especially passionate about helping clients better understand the patterns keeping them stuck, gradually face what they have been avoiding, and develop a more flexible and compassionate relationship with their thoughts and emotions.

Her approach is grounded in evidence-based treatments, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT). She also draws from DBT-informed skills, mindfulness, and psychoeducation based on each client’s needs and goals.

Her therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and culturally responsive. Niyati aims to create a space where clients feel genuinely heard and accepted, while also feeling gently encouraged to take meaningful steps toward change. She views therapy as an active partnership and works with clients to build confidence, emotional resilience, and practical skills they can carry into their everyday lives.

Niyati provides therapy in English, Hindi, and Gujarati and enjoys working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Outside of work, Niyati enjoys traveling, spending time in nature, exploring Chicago, and connecting with family and friends.

Very helpful in empowering me to manage OCD.
