Sophie Troy is a Licensed Social Worker who holds a Bachelor’s in Gender and Women’s Studies and a Master’s in Social Work. Her practice is rooted in empathy, intersectionality, and a deep respect for each person’s unique lived experiences.
Sophie brings extensive experience supporting youth, adolescents, and adults. Before joining Light on Anxiety (LOA), she was a clinician supporting older adults navigating major life changes. She also worked with children as a child development soccer coach and facilitated social-emotional development and collaborative teamwork for children with disabilities in a structured athletic environment. These experiences deeply shaped her understanding of children’s physical and emotional well-being, teamwork, and the power of meeting individuals with compassion and patience.
Sophie takes a person-centered and strengths-based approach. She believes in meeting clients where they are by going at their pace. She strives to create a warm, non-judgemental environment where clients feel safe to show up as their authentic selves. She integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) into her work.
Her focus areas include supporting individuals through grief and loss, Anxiety disorders, OCD, Depression, and supporting the LGBTQIA+ community.
Outside of work, Sophie enjoys watching Women’s sports, reading, spending time with her family, and watching Broadway shows.
