Maddie Bishop is a Certified Light On Anxiety Treatment Specialist and Licensed Social Worker who earned her Master’s of Social Work from California State University, Long Beach, and her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Arizona. She has experience working with individuals across the lifespan, with a particular passion for supporting children, adolescents, and young adults.
Maddie is especially passionate about using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help young people navigate anxiety at school and the many challenges and opportunities that come with growing up. She supports clients experiencing social anxiety, generalized anxiety, school-related anxiety, depression, and other emotional and behavioral challenges. Her work may focus on concerns such as academic stress, friendships and social confidence, school avoidance, life transitions, and building the skills needed to take on new developmental milestones with greater confidence and independence.
Maddie draws on evidence-based approaches, including CBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI), as well as expressive modalities such as art and play-based therapy when developmentally appropriate. She helps clients better understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and practice concrete skills for approaching rather than avoiding the situations that make them anxious.
Maddie strives to build a trusting and collaborative therapeutic relationship where clients feel comfortable being themselves, trying new things, and taking meaningful steps toward their goals. With compassion, curiosity, and encouragement, she helps clients build confidence, resilience, and practical tools they can use at school, at home, and in everyday life.
Outside of work, Maddie enjoys hiking, hanging out with her dog, and spending time with family.
