Liv Schwallie earned her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Chicago. She also received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from The University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. Liv is passionate about helping children, adolescents, and adults build confidence in themselves while learning a wide range of skills to navigate anxiety and life’s many challenges.
Liv believes that therapy should be a collaborative, supportive space where clients feel safe, seen, and empowered. She has a background in working with children, teens, and adults experiencing anxiety disorders, OCD, depression, trauma, life transitions, low self-esteem, perfectionism, social anxiety, and relationship challenges. She is especially passionate about helping clients develop resiliency and to discover that they are capable of doing hard things.
Liv approaches each individual with warmth, curiosity, and authenticity, recognizing that every person’s experiences, strengths, and goals are unique. She uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as the foundation of her work, while incorporating Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness tools to help clients move toward living a life guided by their values rather than their anxiety.
Outside of work, Liv enjoys teaching yoga, spending time near the lake, and trying new restaurants around Chicago. She believes that caring for our mental health happens both inside and outside of therapy, and enjoys helping clients find meaningful ways to build balance in their everyday lives.
