Allyson Utz
Lakeview Virtual

Allyson Utz is a recent graduate with a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Ball State University, and she is in the process of applying to become a Licensed Professional Counselor. She discovered her passion for psychology and youthΒ development during her time at Indiana University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in Youth Development.Β

Allyson has experience working with clients across the lifespan, and more recently, her clinical work has focused on children, adolescents, and young adults. She has experience providing individual therapy for children, adolescents, young adults, and adults within a private practice setting and has also facilitated teen and adult groups. Allyson is dedicated to providing clients with a guaranteed space where they can move at their own pace, be heard, acknowledged, and understood. She is passionate about empowering clients by building their self-esteem.

Allyson leads with a client-centered approach and strives to foster a collaborative therapy space. She believes in providing integrative and evidence-based care and utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in her work. She finds that working on values helps clients connect with themselves and understand what causes them discomfort so they can move toward what is important to them and connect with others. Allyson believes that flexibility is an invaluable skill and works with clients to hone their adaptability.

Anyone and everyone is welcome in Allyson’s therapy space and can expect to be met with unconditional acceptance. She wants to be with clients in the moments they are most and least proud of and help them navigate how aspects of their lives are helping them move toward or away from their values and goals. She possesses a genuine curiosity about people and life, which she leads with in therapy. Allyson has a zeal for learning and views education around mental health as ever-evolving; there is always more to learn!

Outside of her clinical work, Allyson enjoys going to the gym, listening to music, taking dance classes, and discovering new coffee shops to read in. She also loves spending quality time with friends and family and is an avid moviegoer.

I felt comfortable and in a safe place to speak my mind and my concerns.
