Sergio Navarrete is an empathetic Licensed Professional Counselor. He earned his Master’s in Counseling Psychology from The Chicago School. A lifelong Chicagoan and first-generation professional, Sergio entered counseling after several years of practicing law and earning his Juris Doctor from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law. As an attorney, Sergio observed and experienced the stressors many people face, which led him to adopt a different approach to empowering people and enter the counseling field.
Sergio works with all individuals across the lifespan, focusing particularly on social anxiety, performance anxiety, OCD, PTSD, Substance Use Disorders, and all types of anxiety. Using techniques from CBT, DBT, ACT, and ERP, along with motivational interviewing. He guides clients to identify the patterns that fuel their anxiety and develop practical skills to manage it effectively. Sergio’s approach is collaborative, strengths-based, and aims to create a space that feels safe and honest for incremental change.
In his free time, Sergio can be found at the gym, walking his dog around the neighborhood, or catching up with friends and family over a good meal.
