Meet Sophia Troy, BS

Sophia Troy
Lakeview Ravenswood Virtual

Sophia Troy is a Graduate Clinical Counseling Intern currently pursuing her Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at DePaul University, where she expects to graduate in June 2027. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Rehabilitation and Human Services from The Pennsylvania State University. Sophie is passionate about working with adolescents and young adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma-related symptoms, relationship dynamics, self-esteem concerns, and life transitions.Β

Sophia believes therapy is an opportunity to better understand yourself, strengthen coping skills, and create meaningful change while navigating life’s challenges. She believes individuals have the capacity for healing within themselves, and that the role of the therapist is to help guide and support that process. She views the therapeutic relationship as a collaborative process and strives to create a space where clients feel heard, supported, and accepted exactly as they are.Β

Her approach is person-centered, trauma-informed, and tailored to each client’s unique experiences and goals. Sophia integrates evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), IFS-informed parts work, and strengths-based practices to help clients develop insight, build resilience, and move toward the life they want to create. She believes there are no “bad” parts of ourselves, and that many of the ways we adapt and cope develop as forms of protection.Β

As a counselor-in-training, Sophia is committed to creating a therapeutic environment rooted in empathy, curiosity, safety, and empowerment. She believes healing happens within supportive relationships and feels honored to walk alongside clients as they explore their experiences and discover their strengths.

Outside of the therapy room, Sophia enjoys exploring Chicago, trying new restaurants and coffee shops, traveling, spending time with friends and family, and taking walks along the lakefront.

Very helpful in empowering me to manage OCD.
