Are you a perfectionist? Do you see your perfectionism as helpful sometimes but the cause of stress and low sense of self more often than not? I, myself, can be a perfectionist, and this is something I have to work at everyday. It’s hard to be your own worst critic. It’s hard to get unstuck from the idea that your accomplishments define your worth. But I want you to know you are so much more than your successes and failures! Such a big part of mental health is finding self compassion and acceptance. This article discusses two different types of perfectionism: “striving perfectionists” and “evaluative perfectionists” and takes a look at what mental health concerns come out of perfectionistic thinking.
