Scheduling FAQs

The simple scheduling at Light On Anxiety is designed to get you past anxiety as rapidly as possible.

  1. Your first appointment will be a virtual intake session.
  2. At the end of the intake session, we will review your recommended treatment plan and assign a therapist appropriate for your treatment goals and schedule. 

To see our most current availability for each location, please use our online appointment calendar, where you can select your preferred location. From there you will see our available appointment times and clinicians.

Each case is different, but strive to make treatment as short-term as possible. CBT is action oriented and the goal is for each client to become his or her own anxiety coach.

Once your appointment is confirmed, you will receive our Intake Packet through your client portal. These forms must be completed prior to your appointment.

The therapist that you meet with will assess your level of need and make a recommendation of how often it is best for you to meet from there. Sessions are most often held on a weekly basis.

The therapist who completes the intake will meet with your assigned ongoing therapist to review your clinical history and treatment goals. That way you will be able to get to work on your CBT for anxiety treatment plan immediately.

There is no charge for a cancellation if it occurs more than 48 hours before the session. To cancel an appointment, login to your client portal or email [email protected] and let us know the date of the session you would like to cancel and you will receive an email back confirming the appointment has been canceled.

Light On Anxiety clinicians offer out of office exposure based services and will work with you to make contact and then practice moving past anxiety, wherever it exists in your life. Sometimes out of office CBT and exposure based work may enhance what can be accomplished in the office setting. Note: Client will be responsible for the clinician’s travel time to and from the exposure location.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) -based treatment is action-oriented, empirically-supported and practical.

Yes, each of our therapists is certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for Anxiety & OCD and all specialize in CBT and Exposure Response Prevention (ERP).

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an empirically-supported treatment model that focuses specifically on your thoughts, feelings and behaviors. It is an action-oriented approach that emphasizes skill-building and creating a coping skills toolbox. Throughout the first few sessions, you will learn how to apply CBT concepts in your life.

Only medical professionals, such as nurse practitioners and psychiatrists, can prescribe psychotropic medication. Light On Anxiety has Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners on staff to provide you with medication management services as an addition to your treatment plan when appropriate. Light On Anxiety therapists will work closely with your medication prescriber to ensure the best collaborative care for you.

Light On Anxiety offers brief psychological testing services to provide clients with differential diagnosis assistance, treatment planning assistance, clinical resources and provider recommendations.

Yes. Depending on the severity of symptoms, we offer intensive treatment with up to 5 sessions per week. The first step is to set up an intake session with any of the Light On Anxiety therapists. From there, we will create a customized treatment plan to assist you in moving past anxiety.

Child & Adolescent CBT FAQs

Light On Anxiety values a team-based approach where parent(s) play an active role in treatment.

Light On Anxiety values a team based approach where parents play an active role in the treatment of children and adolescents. Therefore, it is required that at least one parent/legal guardian be available to participate in each appointment. You will either be actively involved in the whole session, part of the session, or taking part in separate parenting sessions, without your child participating, depending on clinical recommendations of your therapist. 

No matter what, your participation will be a key component in the creation and implementation of successful CBT treatment plan for your child, so be prepared for hard but important work that will assist your child in moving past stress and anxiety as rapidly as possible.

Light On Anxiety works with children as young as three years old and the families of children of all ages. When working with young children, the primary treatment entails working with parents on changing the environment to extinguish ineffective behaviors, enhance more effective coping (stimuli control) and improve distress tolerance.
