Maret Thorpe is a licensed clinical social worker with a clinical background in treating adults, young adults, and children seeking relief from anxiety, depression, OCD, and related disorders. She received a Master of Social Work from Loyola University Chicago and a Bachelor of Science from Northwestern University. Her areas of expertise include career and academic stress, relationship and family challenges, behavioral changes, and life transitions.
Maret creates a space where her clients feel accepted and their strengths are validated as they develop new strategies for facing challenges. She utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) along with elements of solution-focused, DBT and ACT therapeutic strategies to help her clients grow their skills. She also guides her clients in developing mindfulness, physical self-care, and supportive connections with others. In her free time, Maret is a knitter, a gardener, and organizes and officiates chess tournaments on the weekends.
