Book with Jack Leahy, LPC

Jack completed his Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University. Previously, he received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Classical Civilization from DePauw University. During Jack’s time at Northwestern University, he interned at a program that treated individuals at the partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) levels. At this facility, Jack worked with a treatment team which specialized in OCD, anxiety, panic related disorders, mood disorders, and Body-Focused Repetitive Disorders (BFRB’s), and has received training in implementing both CBT and DBT theoretical modalities for these conditions.

Jack implements theoretical frameworks such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Behavioral Activation (BA) while also emphasizing the importance of creating and maintaining a supportive therapeutic alliance with his clients. By using these therapeutic strategies, Jack helps his clients gain awareness of potentially unhelpful thinking styles and maladaptive behavioral patterns to facilitate meaningful and lasting positive change in his client’s quality of life. By collaborating with his clients and fellow clinicians, Jack aims to establish and achieve goals specific to each of his clients’ wants and needs.
