Meet Erika Walton, PMHNP-BC

Highland Park Virtual Wilmette

Erika brings a wealth of expertise and dedication to her role as a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). Her educational journey, beginning with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain University and advancing through a Master of Science in Nursing at Elmhurst University, culminated with a Post-Master certificate as a PMHNP-BC from the University of St. Francis. Erika’s clinical training at Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health outpatient services and BZA Behavioral Health provided her with robust, hands-on experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Beyond her professional work, Erika is passionate about mental health advocacy. She actively participates in the perinatal mental health community through volunteer work and serves on the Board of Directors for Postpartum Support Illinois. Additionally, Erika has pursued advanced training from the National Curriculum of Reproductive Psychiatry to enhance her skills in treating the perinatal population.

Central to Erika’s practice is her dedication to a holistic approach to client care. Understanding that each person has a unique history, lifestyle, and set of treatment goals, Erika works closely with clients to develop personalized treatment plans that address their specific needs and preferences. Her approach to medication management is rooted in evidence-based practices and a person-centered philosophy. She stays up to date with the latest research and guidelines to ensure her clients receive the most effective treatments.

Erika focuses on creating a supportive and empowering environment where clients feel genuinely heard, respected, and actively involved in their path to wellness.
