What is Walk and Talk Therapy?

Either as a stand alone treatment module or combined into our standard CBT service offering, your Light On Anxiety therapist will offer you anxiety fighting tips and tools as you engage in a brisk walk (or run when desired and appropriate). This type of therapy has been gaining popularity in recent years as it can provide a number of therapeutic benefits, such as physical activity, improved mood, and access to nature.

What are the goals of Walk and Talk Therapy?

The primary goal of Walk and Talk Therapy is to provide a safe and supportive environment for clients to explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Unlike traditional forms of psychotherapy, Walk and Talk Therapy doesn’t take place in a closed office; instead, therapy sessions are conducted while walking outdoors. This gives clients the opportunity to move their body while exploring their mental health issues.

Light On Anxiety will help you to not only “talk the talk” but also “walk the walk”

As you engage in Behavioral Activation Therapy and flex your “just do it” muscles to  move past depression and anxiety.

What types of mental health issues can Walk and Talk Therapy help with?

Walk and Talk Therapy can help people with a variety of mental health issues including:

This type of therapy can help clients feel more connected to their environment and nature, which can lead to a better understanding of themselves and their emotions. Walking in nature can also help reduce stress and improve overall mood.

Our walk and talk was great. I didn’t think it was possible to feel better tonight, but I do. Everything makes more sense and I feel more balanced.

What are some of the health benefits from spending time outside?

Spending time outdoors can help reduce stress and anxiety by calming the mind and body. Studies have shown that outdoor activities help to reduce stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline.

Increased Self-Esteem

Engaging in outdoor activities can help to boost self-esteem and confidence. This is because when you’re in nature, you’re around beauty and a sense of freedom that can help to remind you of your own strengths and capabilities.

Improved Mood

Being outside in the sunshine and fresh air can also help to improve mood. This is because exposure to nature can increase the production of serotonin, a neurotransmitter that helps to regulate mood.

Increased Focus and Concentration

Being outdoors can also help to improve focus and concentration. Studies have shown that exposure to nature can help to reduce mental fatigue and improve cognitive performance.

Improved Sleep Quality

Spending time outdoors can also help to improve sleep quality. Studies have shown that exposure to natural light during the day can help to regulate the body’s circadian rhythm and improve overall sleep quality.

Let’s get outside!

Walk and talk therapy can help by offering you a safe, non-judgmental space to discuss and process your thoughts and feelings. Light On Anxiety is here to help you with your mental health needs.
