Exposure-Response Prevention (ERP) for Anxiety & OCD Treatment Group

Overcome Your Fears in a Virtual Group Setting

Light On Anxiety’s Exposure-Response Prevention (ERP) for Anxiety & OCD Treatment Group is a virtual group designed to help clients who have mild to moderate symptoms practice moving through and past doubt, uncertainty, and distress by reinforcing effective thoughts and behavioral patterns.

What is Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)?

Exposure and Response Prevention is a form of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) that is widely used to treat anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). ERP treatment involves exposing the individual to anxiety-provoking situations and then helping the individual manage their response to the situation. Research has shown that ERP is a highly effective treatment for anxiety and OCD, and many people have seen significant improvements in their symptoms as a result of participating in an ERP treatment group.

Common symptoms of OCD

OCD is characterized by frequent, disturbing intrusive thoughts, feelings, ideas, or sensations (obsessions) and accompanying behaviors that one feels compelled to engage in (compulsions). Compulsions can be either external (washing hands) or internal (counting or praying). One engages in compulsions to get rid of obsessive thoughts, but this only provides temporary relief.

Getting started with the Adult OCD Treatment group

At LOA, you will find a secure and encouraging setting to discuss your struggles and learn from others. With this program, you will gain the techniques necessary to better manage your OCD and enhance your life.

What will group participants do?

ERP is a highly effective treatment for anxiety and OCD, and participating in a treatment group can be a great way to learn and practice ERP skills. The group provides a safe, supportive environment in which individuals can learn from each other and gain understanding of the disorder. This can lead to significant improvements in symptoms and a better quality of life for those struggling with anxiety and OCD.

The Group Structure

  • Group meets virtually, from 6 to 7PM every Monday.
  • Attendees must be willing to make an 8 week commitment in order to participate.
  • Group has a rolling entry

Every week we will be doing the same important work in conducting in vivo group exposures and supporting each other in the transformation work of obtaining freedom from Anxiety & OCD, so it is always a good time to get started.

Each week group participants will:

  1. Create an exposure hierarchy
  2. Conduct in vivo exposures, with the encouragement and support of the group
  3. Obtain enhanced accountability to practice working “exposure mental muscle” on a daily basis
The Exposure Tracking Log and Anxiety Hierarchy are resources for clients to utilize on their own or during sessions, but there is no requirement to complete them ahead of time.
