It can be difficult for some people with anxiety to “just be still.” Instead, you might be constantly keeping busy or making sure you are around other people. The next time you have time to yourself, take note:
- Do you feel that inner resistance creeping up, telling you that this a waste of time?
- Are you frantically searching for the next thing to accomplish on your ever-growing To-Do List?
- Does your mind tell you that being alone is too painful?
- Is this your way to avoid discomfort?
It’s time to think about your alone time in a different way. Although it might be uncomfortable at first, pushing through the discomfort will help you stay present and be in touch with what is important to you.
