Can I pass out from a panic attack?

Associated Image:

Many individuals with panic disorder fear they will pass out from a panic attack, due to feeling dizzy, short of breath and lightheaded. The good news is that it is near impossible to pass out during a panic attack ( with the exception of blood phobias ) because during a panic attack blood pressure is increasing, in order to fuel the fight or flight responses. In contrast, passing out requires a rapid drop in blood pressure. So, just because it feels like you are passing out does not mean you are actually passing out.
